Are we in control of our minds, or is it the other way around?
The matter of the mind is a complex issue to tackle. It is supposed to be a safe space where we can roam freely. Yet, it’s often being cluttered with things that make us feel trapped and helpless.
Our thoughts could be influenced by many things—our surroundings, experiences, as well as the things that we read, listen and watch.
Thus, we should be aware of what we consume, as it has a way of affecting how we think and act.
For instance, constantly thinking about the possibility of our failure instead of success will hinder us from achieving our dreams. For the believers, this goes against the concept of tawakkul, which is relying on the plan of Allah (s.w.t.).
As He (s.w.t.) mentioned in the Qur’an,
“…Once you make a decision, put your trust in Allah. Surely Allah loves those who trust in Him.”
(Ali ‘Imran, 3:159)
So, how do we take control over our minds and protect it from negative thoughts?
Find out more in Breaking Free by Nouman Ali Khan, as he walks us through on how we can take control over our thoughts for a successful life in this world, and the next.
