With marriages happening left, right and centre, we begin to question whether we are ready to take that step.
Well, that’s probably because we understand that marriage is more than a vow uttered by two parties.
When we were younger, we thought that marriage is the essence of ‘happily ever after’ to a relationship. As we grow older, we realise that marriage is not the end destination. In fact, it’s only the beginning.
Due to this, marriage can seem like a daunting path.
However, it is an ‘ibadah that is encouraged by Allah (s.w.t.). As He commanded in the Qur’an,
“Marry off the ˹free˺ singles among you, as well as the righteous of your bondmen and bondwomen. If they are poor, Allah will enrich them out of His bounty. For Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing.” [Surah An-Nur, 4:32]
As marriage is an act that is beloved by our Lord, we shouldn’t be afraid of it. In fact, Islam has provided a complete guideline on how we should approach it in a way that is pleasing to Him.
It all begins with planting the right seeds to grow the tree of marriage. So, what are the seeds that we need?
