Sustaining a marriage is like maintaining a garden.
You and your spouse are responsible for nurturing the landscape. On some days, there will be pests, rain and thunderstorms. On other days, the sun is out, and the flowers in your garden are in full bloom.
This reflects the reality of marriage. You will be tested with good and tough times.
However, the beauty of marriage is that you are not facing these hard times on your own. You have a companion by your side throughout the journey.
After all, isn’t that what spouses are made for?
Allah (s.w.t.) said in the Qur’an,
“And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy…” [Ar-Rum, 30:21]
So what are the things we need to ensure that the flowers in our garden blossom?
