Faith Events had the honour to host Dr Muhammad Salah earlier in March. Taking place a week before Ramadan, the event acted as a spiritual warm-up for the upcoming blessed month. The event was held on 17, 18 and 19 March 2023 at TM Convention Centre, Bangsar. Tertib Publishing, the book publisher and supporter of Faith Events was also present at the event. The topic on the first night was about how the Prophet (s.a.w.) practised his Ramadan. Entitled The Light in the Luminous Month: Ramadan through the lens of the Prophet (s.a.w.), Dr Muhammad Salah explained what Ramadan was like for our beloved Prophet (s.a.w.), and how he filled his nights with ibadah during that month. It was a really motivating session, as we get to set our own Ramadan goals by following the sunnah of our Rasulullah (s.a.w).
As we may already know, surah Al-Kahf contains remarkable stories for us to take lessons from. On the second day, Dr Salah explained the surah in depth, and unfolded the stories that we may have forgotten through The Game of Life: Lessons from Surah Al-Kahf. The stories were inspirational and provide examples of what we should do as servants of Allah (s.w.t.), through four different trials in life; faith, knowledge, wealth and power. It was a really insightful session as we learned the keys of being a righteous person.
The topic on the last day might be everyone’s favourite—it was about love! In A Binding Knot: Guidelines for Marriage in Islam, Dr Salah explained about the topic through an Islamic perspective. In today’s society, some of us may have drifted away from the teachings of Islam when it comes to building a marriage. Dr Salah shared in details about marriage as prescribed by the religion such as tips in finding a spouse, the dos and don’ts in marriage, as well as the responsibilities of husband and wife in building a marriage of sakinah, mawaddah and rahmah. It was an inspiring session that many appreciate learning about.
A new book was released during the event, which was extracted from Dr Salah’s lecture, entitled Mothers: A Role Model for Peace. Also the first book by Dr Salah to be published with Tertib Publishing, it was exclusively available during the events. Those at the venue were among the first to get their hands on it! There was also a book signing session at the end of all three days.
It was our first time hosting Dr Salah, but it definitely would not be the last. The session with Dr Salah was a much needed preparation for Ramadan. Through it, our spirits were lifted, allowing us to refresh ourselves before increasing our ibadah in the upcoming month.
