When Allah (s.w.t.) told the angels that He would create Adam (a.s.), He did not say that Adam’s time on Earth would be a punishment. In fact, Allah (s.w.t.) said that Adam’s time on Earth would be an honour—to represent God as His khalifah in this world.

We too, the Children of Adam, have been honoured by Him.

“Indeed, We have dignified the Children of Adam, carried them on land and sea, granted them good and lawful provisions, and privileged them far above many of Our creatures.”

(Surah Al-Isra’, 17:70)

As we navigate through this worldly life, we are desperate to find our self-worth, and sadly, many of us look for our worth in the wrong places. Some of us seek their worth in status or wealth. Others seek their worth through acceptance or approval from people.

But Allah (s.w.t.) has indeed given us our true worth. How can we actualise this sense of worth and live by it?
